Trump Today: President says tax cuts helped ‘everybody’ including Wall Street
This column provides a daily update on key presidential actions as well as comments, whether spoken aloud or on Twitter, by President Trump. Like the stock market, the deadline for Trump Today action is 4 p.m. Eastern time, even as we acknowledge that substantive news can and does occur after hours.
President Donald Trump discussed his tax cuts and viewed Boeing planes at a company plant in St. Louis, as he blasted Democrats for slowing down his picks ahead of expected battles on confirming nominees for the State Department and Central Intelligence Agency.
“We helped Wall Street, we helped Main Street, we helped everybody,” Trump said about the tax law at a roundtable featuring local business leaders held at the Boeing BA, -2.48% factory. The event featured testimony from businesspeople about how they’re creating jobs.
Boeing shares fell on Wednesday after the New York Times reported the aircraft maker was a target for China to retaliate against in the event of a full-blown trade war.

‘SLOW WALK’ FOR NOMINEES
With high-profile confirmation battles looming for Trump’s nominees to head the State Department and the CIA, Trump leveled his latest broadside at Democrats for what he says is blocking or slow-walking his picks. “Many important positions in Government are unfilled because of this obstruction,” he tweeted.
But there are signs that his latest announcements won’t go smoothly even with his own party. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said Wednesday he’ll oppose Trump’s nominations of CIA Director Mike Pompeo to head the State Department, and CIA deputy director Gina Haspel to lead the spy agency. Fellow Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona says he has questions for Haspel over her reported involvement in the CIA’s interrogation program.

Hundreds of good people, including very important Ambassadors and Judges, are being blocked and/or slow walked by the Democrats in the Senate. Many important positions in Government are unfilled because of this obstruction. Worst in U.S. history!
